To celebrate the Fiftieth anniversary of the Northeastern Oklahoma chapter of the CPCU Society, President Kent Nicholson wanted to plan a major event. Not wanting it to be just another meeting, he needed someone to spearhead the planning committee--someone who could marshal people and resources, someone with a long history in the chapter, someone who demonstrated commitment to the ideals for which the chapter has stood these past fifty years. President Nicholson tapped Rob Lane for the job, which proved to be an excellent choice.
Rob organized a committee to plan a Fiftieth Anniversary Luncheon for our January meeting. In keeping with the occasion, the event was held at the Tulsa Historical Society which allowed members to reflect on the changes in Tulsa and the chapter over the past fifty years. Preparations were made and invitations sent out, along with numerous phone calls to locate retired members. Thanks to the efforts of Rob and his committee over sixty current and past members were in attendance, including fourteen past-presidents of the chapter, their service dating back more than forty years.
The luncheon provided opportunities for members to fellowship and reminisce over a wonderful meal and the anniversary cake. The program included a review of the club's history by Past President Jeanne Hutter and a reflection on the value of the CPCU designation by CPCU Regional Governor Scott Garrison. Past President Cyndy Atkins distributed door prizes for those who could answer trivia questions about the chapter. The meeting ended with recognition of the chapter's past presidents.
A busy commercial underwriter for Chubb Insurance Companies, Rob has served for the past several years as chairman of the Connections committee for the Northeastern Oklahoma chapter. Previously, he also served as chairman of the Candidate Development committee. He has been a tireless supporter of the chapter's activities and ideals since becoming a CPCU in 1993. In recognition of his years of service and excellence in planning the fiftieth anniversary celebration, the chapter wishes to express our gratitude and honor to Rob Lane.
